Three reasons to check out A Sample Life at Subterranean tonight…

1. Because you’ve probably never heard or seen a band like Chicago’s A Sample Life before. A duo consisting of Adam Stein and Stephanie Fravel, A Sample Life blend acoustic melodies, hip-hops beats and samples with Fravel’s sunny vocals to create quirky pop tunes that at anytime could break down into a groovy Beatles or bouncy Jay-Z cover. And I’m not even joking. Check out the track “A Sample Medley” from the band’s Myspace page. While it sounds like a novelty act, A Sample Life actually offer a very intriguing, fresh sound that features the right amount of experimentation to entice the listener, not overwhelm them.
